School Devices & School Filtering

Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School models its Acceptable Use Policy based on our requirement by CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act) to ensure that our protection measures block and filter internet access to obscene pictures and sites that are harmful to minors. In addition, our internet safety policy must include the monitoring of online activities of minors, we must provide education to students regarding appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response (CIPA, 2017).

Wireless Network

Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School offer guest and students access to high-speed internet access 24/7 throughout campus. When connecting you will be sent to a Captive Portal where you must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy.

Firewall

The district’s Firewall, Web Filter, and Application Control filters Internet access for all devices connected to the network. In addition, all district-owned Chromebooks have a built-in filter.

GoGuardian

Students also have an additional layer of security while on school-owned Chromebooks. The GoGuardian extension installed on Chromebooks and Chrome accounts filters internet access 24/7.
