Home/Hospital https://smithtecadmin.wixsite.com/website/es/homehospital Home/Hospital Services Students, who are medically confined to the home or are hospitalized for at least a period of 14 days (consecutively or cumulatively within a school year) and under a Physician’s order, are entitled to tutoring services provided by SVAHS. Typically, tutoring is provided for one hour per day or five hours per week, but individual needs may vary and the District will consider those needs on a case by case basis. The following form is the only form the District will accept to allow for these services to begin: http://www.doe.mass.edu/sped/28mr/28r3.pdf Please have a physician fill out the form and return it to Student and Career Services as soon as possible so services can be coordinated without delay. It is important to note that we require the physician to state that the child is confined to the home or hospital and they must put a specific end date. If the end date needs to be extended, the District will require an additional form to be filled out. Also, if the home or hospital confinement is going to extend beyond 60 days the District must request consent for a full special education evaluation (this may be requested earlier if and extended confinement is anticipated). Animal Science https://smithtecadmin.wixsite.com/website/es/animalscience Animal Science Client and Student Expectations Ashley Holden aholden@smithtec.org Bethany Evangelista bevangelista@smithtec.org Jessica Thibault jthibault@smithtec.org The Animal Science Shop is committed to preparing students for a career and/or higher education in animal agriculture by providing rigorous animal science content and relevant, hands-on experiences in various aspects of the animal science industry. Students in animal science will be prepared to help safely feed America through responsible animal husbandry and biosecurity practices. Our students also get the background necessary to take the next steps in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. With high expectations for academic performance and attention paid to helping students build a strong work ethic, the Animal Science shop is working to prepare the next generation of animal agriculturalists. Our facilities and resources include the school’s own Oliver Smith Farm, complete with barns and handling areas on over 500 acres of managed land. Oliver Smith Farm is home to a working beef herd, a dairy herd, goats, sheep, pigs and equine; all to enhance the learning experience for students in animal science. The Animal Science Shop is committed to preparing students for a career and/or higher education in animal agriculture by providing rigorous animal science content and relevant, hands-on experiences in various aspects of the animal science industry. Students will diversify into two different concentrations: Livestock Production or Companion Animal concentration. Students in the Livestock Production Concentration will be prepared to help safely feed America through responsible animal husbandry and biosecurity practices. Our facilities and resources include the school’s own Oliver Smith Farm, complete with barns and handling areas on over 500 acres of managed land. Oliver Smith Farm is home to a working beef herd, a dairy herd, goats, sheep, pigs and equine; all to enhance the learning experience for students in animal science. The second concentration is companion animals. Students in this concentration will learn the care and management of a plethora of different companion animals for both personal and industry use. The variety of animals students will learn about include canine, feline, reptiles, amphibians, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, and a variety of pocket pets. Students will explore different career opportunities in the companion animal field such as grooming, training, rescue work, and pet shop. Our students also build the background necessary to take the next steps in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. With high expectations for academic performance and attention paid to helping students build a strong work ethic, the Animal Science shop is working to prepare the next generation of animal agriculturalists.
